MM6 Maison Margiela Avant-Première SS25 Reconfigures Ordinary Dress Codes

The official lookbook for the MM6 Maison Margiela Avant-Première Spring/Summer 2025 season has finally arrived. Taking traditional menswear and womenswear tropes, the latest collection puts the “extra” in extraordinary when it comes to versatile, functional and conceptual dress codes.
Reconfigurating reassembling and recontextualizing foundational pieces this season, classic ensembles receive the MM6 twist. Silhouettes are sensible, but receives the studio’s hardcore attitude through details, construction and attention to styling. From the label’s iconic visible stitching to tie together washed-out colors, raw finishes, earth tones and patchwork, archival pieces get a modern makeover, adding fringes, washed cotton and distressed silk to otherwise classically tailored pieces. Asymmetry and imperfections give these pieces an added layer of texture throughout. Bringing forward unexpected shapes like slits that act as armholes or airy oversized volumes, both menswear and womenswear are interesting at every detail.
Staple menswear staples feature combination bomber/denim jackets and coat/trench collage hybrids. With mismatched front and backs, the concept also includes raw denim looks and fluid tailored jackets. Preppy Americana themes are highlighted with Ivy League-style knits while the ’90s workwear look is accented through utilitarian cargo and jackets. Womenswear allows classics to be open for interpretation. From biker jackets to tailored pantsuits to fluid coats, each piece creates volume and draws attention to the eye.
