Marni Jams With Paloma Elsesser and Alake Shilling for New High Summer Collection
Designer Francesco Risso envisions a “naturorgasmic” lineup of hot-weather wares, inspired by Elsesser and Shilling’s united codes.
Model Paloma Elsesser, artist Alake Shilling and, of course, designer Francesco Risso came together to create the latest installment of Marni Jam, the brand’s “interdisciplinary multi-practice that holds Marni and like-minded entities into a series of creative exchanges.” Offering an ode to the synergy between human bodies and those of nature, the High Summer 2024 line embraces vibrant, earthy tones on “naturorgasmic” silhouettes in extended sizes.
“Having been a long-time Marni family member, my heart sings at this collision of all of our likes,” Elsesser said in a statement. “It is also a new expression of Marni’s commitment to seeing the beauty in all people with its size extension going to 56* for the first time, as well, as my shared vision of the industry I wish to see. This collection is a reflection of the joy that summer brings: a slurry of sweat, sweetness, and surrender. I am very excited to share this with the world.”
Crochet plays a prominent role in the collection, forming small tops, striped sweaters, figure-forming dresses and bright shorts. Shirt jackets, finished with playful lining around their edges, and coats, done up with crochet detailing, are tailored straight, while bomber jackets and blouses prefer roomier builds. Across the line, Alake’s affinity for flora and fauna complements Elsesser’s welcoming wardrobe of summer essentials — and it’s all made possible by Risso.
The Marni High Summer 2024 collection is now available to shop online and in Marni boutiques. Take a look at the collection in the campaign, shot on the streets of Los Angeles by photographer Colin Dodgson, above.
