Brain Dead Taps 'The Big Lebowski' for Illustrative T-Shirt Capsule

The line includes three tees with movie-inspired drawings by Johnny Ryan.

Brain Dead has joined forces with Focus Features to create a capsule collection of T-shirts inspired by The Big Lebowski.

The cult comedy-thriller — written, directed and produced by Joel and Ethan Coen — first met the world at Sundance Film Festival in 1998 and has since gone on to become a classic. The movie stars Jeff Bridges as Jeff “The Dude” Lebowski, a simple guy who finds himself in the center of drama after a couple of thieves break into his place and steal his much-loved rug. The film, which achieved icon status for its comedic sequences and idiosyncratic language (fans even founded a “religion,” titled Dudeism, dedicated to spreading the philosophy and lifestyle of Bridges’ character), also stars Julianne Moore, John Goodman, John Turturro and Steve Buscemi.

Here, Brain Dead looks to celebrate the pic’s place in pop culture history with three graphic T-shirts featuring artwork by Johnny Ryan. Among them, one design sees Woo, one of the film’s antagonists, urinating on the infamous rug on the front, with a Brain Dead-branded version of the mat on the back. The second silhouette houses a pinhead graphic, and the final tee dons a “Strike” motif — both of which nod to the film’s bowling scenes and metaphors.

The Big Lebowski x Brain Dead capsule collection is now available to shop on Brain Dead’s webstore, as well as in the brand’s Fairfax and Sunset studios. Each T-shirt is priced at $54 USD. Take a look at the line in the gallery above.
