Alpha Industries has landed in Detroit, Michigan, to cut the ribbon on a three-day pop-up at The Siren Hotel, titled “Motown Shakedown.” Celebrating the city’s Movement Festival, the program includes a retail experience housing the label’s classic apparel and accessories, along with commemorative designs sold exclusively at the event.

The event’s limited-edition pieces include a green, quilted coat, which features embroidery across the back reading “Alpha Industries Motown Shakedown” and “Detroit AM/FM Radio,” alongside dates for the pop-up. There’s also a grey hoodie, which dons Alpha Industries’ signage on the front chest and a green dancing illustration on the back with similar event-specific text.

The event kicked off on Thursday night, with an opening event that saw WHODAT and Kyle Hall take to the DJ booth. The brand is also gifting pieces from its collaboration archive to talent, guests and friends of the brand throughout the experience.

Notably, this year marks the 60th anniversary of Alpha Industries’ flagship MA-1 flight jacket, which was largely adopted by youth culture in the ’70s and ’80s during a time where techno music was “considered the epitome of counterculture,” per the brand.

“Detroit’s techno music legacy and burgeoning art scene are intertwined, reflecting the city’s rich cultural tapestry and its ongoing reputation as a hub for creativity,” the label added. “Detroit’s music scene and Alpha Industries share roots in innovation, cultural significance, and global influence –reflecting the dynamic interplay between music and fashion in shaping contemporary culture.”
