Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is officially the third-highest-grossing film of 2024 with a global weekend opening of $194 million USD.

Variety reports that the Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment title opened with $80 million USD in North America with an additional $114 million USD from 64 overseas markets, against $135 million USD production budget. The New Empire is projected to surpass Godzilla vs. Kong’s $474 million USD earnings from 2021. “We wanted to deliver something that was highly entertaining to audiences,” producer Mary Parent said. “Nobody has a crystal ball. You can only hope and dream. So, seeing this result globally feels really good and exciting.”

The New Empire stars Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns and Fala Chen, and follows Godzilla and King Kong teaming up to defeat new enemies.
