Dion Lee quite literally took his collection to new heights during the Fall 2024 runway presentation during Shanghai Fashion Week. Shown on the 100th floor of Shanghai Financial Center, one of the tallest building in China, with the panoramic view of the city as the background, Dion Lee shifted to the super tall, futuristic skyscraper away from a decade of showing during New York Fashion Week.

The Australian designer showed off-schedule during Shanghai Fashion Week, cementing himself as a global designer. Considered one of the most successful fashion exports of the Oceania region, the designer continues to bring his structural and utilitarian aesthetic to the new collection. Experimental tailoring gives Dion Lee its futuristic and celestial styling. With this particular collection, star and flame motifs informed the theme which was explained by Lee, “It’s a symbol of creation and destruction.” From a star-shaped, overlapping lapel to a full head-to-toe flamed halter tops and abstract fiery motifs seen on fur coats to resemble literal fire balls and as woven lace pieces, the collection could be interpreted finding beauty in chaos. The collection features distressed relaxed denim jeans and grunge tie-dye dresses. Exaggerated shoulders informed blazers and cropped bombers while cut-outs highlight the feminine shape throughout out.
