Aimé Leon Dore Reveals Latest Porsche Collab
A Guards Red 944 featuring a “dookie” brown leather interior, gold 5-hole wheels and bespoke details.
In the latest installation of its short film, Doublemint, Aimé Leon Dore has revealed another collaboration with Porsche, this time featuring the 1986 944, the brand’s front-engined, rear-wheel drive coupé that was in production from the early 80s to 1991.
The film starts with a recap of the first part, where Action Bronson slides a Porsche key and what’s assumed to be an address written on a napkin, across a diner table. As the camera moves outside, the Guards Red Porsche 944 is revealed from under a car cover, its license plate changed and ultimately ends up being driven to a private air hanger.
While details are scarce, we do know, thanks to a plain-clothed cop in one scene, that the model is an ‘86 Turbo with a “dookie” brown leather interior. With the vehicle being rebadged to feature “Leon Dore” badging and ALD bespoke decals, it’s a mystery how the officer knew the model, however, it does indicate that the vehicle features a 5-speed, 2.5L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, boasting 217 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque, if stock.
Notably, the 944 represents a departure from the 911’s rear-engine configuration and was designed to compete against other coupés of the era, like the Mazda RX-7 FC and the Nissan 300ZX. Other details we noticed from the video included stand-out gold 5-hole wheels, which match the bespoke decals and embossed seats that feature custom ALD branding.
