Elon Musk's xAI To Launch Revamped Version of Grok Chatbot
Just two weeks after the original rolled out to the public.

Elon Musk‘s xAI began demoing its AI chatbot, Grok, back in November. Billed as a competitor to ChatGPT, the model launched open source just earlier this month, though it’s actually only available to X Premium+ subscribers.
Two weeks after its debut, Musk has returned with Grok 1.5, revamped with “improved reasoning capabilities” and other advancements.
xAI compared the original Grok’s functionality to the new and improved iteration. According to the company’s data, Grok’s MATH benchmark was raised to 50.6%, a measure of its logical reasoning. Its GSM8K benchmark, gauging its accuracy on typical math problems worded in human language, jumped to 90%.
Grok 1.5 was compared to not only the original Grok but also Gemini, ChatGPT and the latest trio of Claude models. The benchmark rates were largely comparable across the board, though Grok 1.5 proved to be better at human evaluation than the latest GPT-4, according to xAI’s numbers.
Grok 1.5 is expected to be released to a group of beta testers in the coming days before launching to a wider audience.
