The Speed Project x Team Sanity Base Upcycle Deadstock Fabrics for “#ZERO” Capsule
Gear fit for running 340 miles, along with a few one-of-a-kind jackets.
The Speed Project typically puts out for each new season of operations but for 2024, the brand has rolled out a fully designed capsule. For the collection, TSP collaborated with the German atelier and creative workshop Team Sanity Base with design and execution led by designer Leni Anders.
The collection itself is titled “#ZERO,” the collection repurposes deadstock fabrics to create the garments, a move inspired by the decision to create something totally unique for the TSP community. True to TSP’s gritty ethos, the drop is bolstered by a less-than-traditional lookbook.
Snapshots offer a look into the making of “#ZERO,” such as screen printing the text onto a shirt and using a headlamp to illuminate one’s workspace. Other photographs capture the bootstrap operations of TSP with a rack of garments hanging to dry in a graffitied cinderblock room.
As for the garments themselves, “#ZERO” offers some running staples, such as mesh bibs, tanks, T-shirts and reflective vests, alongside some more creative pieces. The back of a military liner jacket features a patch with the capsule’s slogan, “It was better next year.” Most of the pieces boast the TSP name, as well as the second half of its “no rules, no spectators” motto.
Rounding out the collection is an army jacket and a patchwork jacket, the latter of which comes in three different unique styles and color combinations. All of the pieces in the capsule are one size fits most and a few are already sold out, as the TSP community received early access to the launch.
TSP was founded by Nils Arend a decade ago as a 340-mile unsanctioned relay race from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. All of the races are by invitation only – the race doesn’t have an application, let alone a website – though runners are welcome to find their own method to weasel their way in.
“#ZERO” was photographed by Moritz Deuerlein, Paul Quednaum, Cristian Brecheis and Nela Wojaczková and modeled by Lou Grimm and Mikey Kratzer. Check out the full collection on The Speed Project webstore.
