UPDATE: Sotheby’s to Auction 11 MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold Suitcases
Marking the first occasion where all these watches are offered as a set.
Update: Earlier on in the month, OMEGA had announced its partnership with Sotheby’s, where the auction house will offer 11 complete sets of MoonSwatch Mission to Moonshine Gold watches up for sale. The auction took place over the weekend and had garnered a total of 534,670 CHF (around $606,444 USD), which will all be donated to the non-profit organization, Orbis.
Speaking on this sale, OMEGA’s president Raynald Aeschlimann says, “This unique auction really captured the imagination of MoonSwatch fans around the world. We’re so thrilled that the proceeds can now go to Orbis. We believe whole-heartedly in their eye care mission, and we’re so pleased to have raised money as well as awareness for their work.”
Original: OMEGA is partnering with Sotheby’s to auction off 11 complete sets of MoonSwatch Mission to Moonshine Gold watches.
Packaged in co-branded suitcases, each set is enclosed with 11 Mission to Moonshine Gold MoonSwatch references inside. All the timepieces within are models that were released in 2023, which include the rare pieces with specially crafted chronograph seconds hands that nod to the carious full moons, alongside coveted pieces like the Mission to Neptune MoonSwatch. The upcoming sale will also mark the first occasion where all these limited-edition watches are compiled and sold in a complete set.
Each suitcase is fitted with an engraved coin featuring a different city’s three-letter aviation code. The timepieces within will also be engraved with the same letters on the side of its ceramic watch case. The set of watches will also be displayed across 11 different OMEGA boutiques around the world, spanning New York, London, Paris, Sydney, Milan, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, Being and Zurich. The auction will take place from February 12 to 24 via Sotheby’s dedicated webpage. All proceeds will be donated to Orbis, a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to supporting and preventing blindness around the world.
