AKNVAS FW24 Touches on Texture and Contemporary Class
Seeing oversized cable knits, textured furs and more.
Christian Juul Nielsen revealed the new Fall/Winter 2024 collection from his label AKNVAS, which blended the details of expanded expression and versatile dress notes. Since the Danish-born designer founded his label in 2019, AKNVAS has remained committed to the pursuit of sustained contemporary elegance.
To bring this vision to life, Juul Nielson took to the Ritz Carlton in NoMad to hold his latest show. Void of theatrical frills, the show focused on what truly mattered, the clothes. What stands out from the latest collection is the designer’s intentional use of texture featuring garments crafted from oversized cable knits, sleek wools, textured furs, acid-washed denim, soft shearling, glistening sequins and more.
A large focus of the collection was tactile knitwear that saw layered cable-knit dresses in shades of dusty lavender and bright red alongside bodycon dresses with playful pop pop details that nodded to Richard Artschewager’s artwork. Another key focus was tailoring, which saw both pinstripe and solid-color fabrics donning double-breasted, sleeveless, and forward-facing seamless suits.
Keen on adding eye-catching playful elements, other standout pieces include draped sequin dresses, stone-washed denim with blooming 3D flowers, crochet tops and two bold gold full-body ensembles. With it all, Juul Nielsen made an exhibition of color, texture and the wonder that comes from fusing contemporary and classic charm.
