Update: After rumors of the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro “Moonwalker” returning in 2025 circulated last December, we now have our first look at the upcoming re-release thanks to Caitlin Clark’s appearance in Nike’s latest marketing campaign. This on-foot teaser is limited to just one angle, however, it confirms that the Swoosh is staying true to the colorway’s purple and black look that we revisited in our initial breakdown below. Look out for the pair to be re-released on July 12 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a price of $210 USD and stay tuned for additional updates, including a complete look at the colorway.

Original Story: It’s quickly shaping up to be a big comeback for the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro as Nike Basketball is not only due to drop the OG “Christmas” colorway this week, but is preparing for pairs like the low-top “Beethoven” colorway to also return in 2025.

Adding to the list of looks to anticipate in the new year, Sneaker Market RO has reported that the Michael Jackson-inspired “Moonwalker” colorway of the Kobe 9 Elite Low will be making an appearance in Protro form. While we don’t have a first look at the sneaker just yet — above is De’Aaron Fox pictured in the kicks in 2018 — it is expected to return in its purple and black colorway that sees “Hyper Grape” paired with “White” and “Cave Purple” hits.

At the time of writing, Nike Basketball has not confirmed whether or not the “Moonwalker” colorway of the Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro will be returning in 2025. Stay tuned for updates, including a first look at the pair, as it is currently expected to drop on July 12 of 2025 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $210 USD.
