The Nike Air Max 95 Gets a "Grey Gradient" Colorway

Nike is set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic Air Max 95 in 2025, and part of the festivities will be an ultra-clean “Grey Gradient” colorway. Playing off the Sergio Lozano-designed sneaker’s anatomy-inspired upper paneling, the “Grey Gradient” lives up to its name with a (you guessed it) gradient colorblocking scheme that uses various grey and black shades for a light-to-dark effect. In short, it’s clean, classic, and displays a great deal of design nuance without needing any brash or bold hues.

The overlay closest to the midsole takes on a light grey shade, while slate and steel shades get gradually darker as the layered details make their way up towards the eyestays, concluding wih a black suede top overlay and mudguard directly below the mesh toebox. Other key embellishments include white eyestays, grey/white/black tongue badges and a small white Swoosh towards the heel, as well as a murky midsole with opaque Air cushioning units.

As it heads into its fourth decade on the market, the Air Max 95 has been enjoying somewhat of a resurgence in mainstream popularity thanks to its well-received Stash collaboration as well as the news that the beloved “Neon” colorway will be returning in all of its original glory for 2025. Though it may not have the firepower of those other two models, the “Grey Gradient” is a worthy addition to the Air Max 95 canon, and will release in early 2025 for $175 USD.
