Issey Miyake‘s optical-focused branch is set to start 2025 off with a new range of models — namely its just-revealed “Wood” frames. A product of Issey Miyake Eyes, a joint venture between Issey Miyake and Kaneko Optical, the “Wood” frame range features a rough-hewn texture inspired by carved wood. Each frame is “carved” by hand, meaning that all feature a unique texture that an industrial process can’t replicate, and all feature durable, lightweight titanium hinges.

Four Issey Miyake Eyes styles (Round, Hexagon, Square and Boston) will be available with the new “Wood” finishes, all in a stark black colorway. However, there are a handful of lens options available on each model. Square and Boston enable the wearer to choose between light and dark grey lenses, while Round supplies light grey and dark brown. Last but not least, Hexagon is the funkiest of the bunch, with light blue and dark green iterations available. No matter what frame or lens option you choose, the price will be the same: ¥55,000 JPY (approximately $348 USD).

Look for the Issey Miyake Eyes collection to release via the brand’s webstore and retail outposts on January 6. If you’re located in Shinjuku, the brand will hold a special exhibition titled Wood at the Shikaku gallery attached to its Shinjuku store from January 6 to January 31 as well.
