Gucci Pre-Fall 2025 Refines the House's Retro Essence

Rich jewel tones embolden monochrome looks, while classic Gucci patterns deliver small doses of maximalism.

For Pre-Fall 2025, Gucci strikes a gentle balance between the house’s retro aesthetic and a more refined contemporary minimalism. Relying on rich jewel tones to elevate largely monochrome looks, the Florentine house offers tasteful doses of its signature maximalism in textured materials and patterns.

In an Instagram post, Gucci shared that Creative Director Sabato De Sarno “explores the essence of the 1970s, breathing new life into the codes of the House through a rich visual language.” The decade is indeed alive and well in the spirit of the collection, most notably in the combination of Gucci’s signature floral headscarves, pussy bow collars, richly-hued matching sets, and plush outerwear.

However, De Sarno does not take this maximalism to the same level as his predecessor Alessandro Michele. The designer is comparatively restrained in his execution, as shown in pared-back numbers easily imaginable in an office setting. In one look dominated by a subtle mint green tone, a solid cardigan with a small embossed Gucci logo on the breast is worn with a matching polo and complementary checked trousers. Elsewhere, a double-breasted solid taupe suit and shirt are paired with a simple green necktie.

Then there are the moments of delight, provided by more ambitious color combinations, floral prints, and classic Gucci cues. A standout look comprises an emerald green twill zipper jacket covered in green-and-white flower illustrations and paisley bandana motifs, paired with green mini-shorts, green socks and black loafers. Colorful women’s ensembles include a lilac coat worn with a matching mini dress, grounded by dark green leather boots, and another look featuring a purple two-piece suit styled with chunky gold jewelry.

The range of solid-colored and neutral-leaning looks is punctuated with expressive accessories including an array of classic monogram handbags completed with red-and-green accents and golden G hardware. Finally, sprinkled throughout the collection are furry outwear moments, including a bright yellow fur coat, a brown-and-black chevron fur jacket, and a green leather flight jacket embossed with the House’s monogram and finished with a white sherpa collar.
