Nintendo Files New Trademarks For Hotels and Restaurants in Japan
Revealed shortly after the opening of the video game company’s museum in Kyoto.
Nintendo could be looking to expand their real estate in Japan after the company filed several new trademarks.
SoraNews24 revealed in a translated report from Chinzai Watch that the video game company filed applications for Class 43 trademarks, a category that covers hotel and restaurant operations. Additional filings were also made in regards to Japanese text renderings of Splatoon, Pikmin, the Japanese title of Animal Crossing and three symbols from the Animal Crossing, Splatoon and Super Smash Bros. IPs.
The filings could be possibly used for “Provision of lodging facilities, lodging facility contract mediation or intermediation functions, hotel reservation intermediation, provision of food and beverages, provision of food and beverages within a restaurant, provision of food and beverages within a bar, provision of accommodation for animals, infant/toddler daycare, provision of non-nursing residential facilities for senior citizens, provision of conference rooms, futon provision, furniture provision, provision of table linens or glassware, provision of towels.”
News of the filings went public just shortly after the official opening of the first Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, which SoraNews 24 says could soon have its own restaurant. Hardcore fans could also opt to stay a Nintendo-branded hotel to round out the full experience.
