Amazon MGM and Sony Pictures TV To Restart 'God of War' Series Following Exit of Executive Producers
The live-action adaptation has been in the works for about two years.
Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures TV are restarting work on its upcoming God of War live-action series adaptation after the exit of three of its executive producers.
Deadline reports that Hawk Ostby, Mark Fergus and Rafe Judkins, the last of whom also served as showrunner, departed from the project after finishing several scripts. Both studios are now supposedly “looking to move in a different creative direction,” however a source claimed that the original scripts were commended by the studios. Replacements for the trio have yet to be announced.
The God of War series was fist announced in 2022 and will be based on the 2018 video game, which follows Kratos’ supposed attempt in “retirement” in Midgar. When his wife dies, however, he and his estranged son, Atreus, go on a journey to the highest peak in order to spread her ashes and are faced with new and different kinds of Gods and monsters.
Stay tuned for an official release date.
