3.PARADIS FW24 Celebrates Individualism With Opulence
Titled “The Sun Doesn’t Shine in the Shade,” the line offers a stylistic analysis of the human experience.
3.PARADIS has pulled back the curtain on its Fall/Winter 2024 collection, titled “The Sun Doesn’t Shine in the Shade.” In the center of the line’s mood board is a quote from JAY-Z: “I’m like Che Guevara with bling on. I’m complex. I never planned to have wings on.” This sentiment — one that speaks to the intricacies and inner-conflicts that define human identities — encapsulates the range’s articulation of “light, ego and opulence.”
In this collection, opposites attract: the notes state that the designs navigate the “delicate balance between self-interest and collective responsibility.” In practice, this thematic exploration prioritizes differing textures — namely, those of crocodile skin, fur, denim, wool, leather and Swarovski crystals. Many silhouettes, like voluminous coats and baggy pants, prioritize functionality, offering a commentary on the “basic human struggle,” per the brand. Others, like zip-up jackets covered in butterfly-shaped jewels, are more fanciful. Here, the metaphor is “to survive, to win and to make sense of it all.”
Standout pieces include ultra-fuzzy overcoats, fur-lined workwear shirts, bird-embossed cardigans and blinged-out denim trousers. Denim blazers feature illustrations of liberated doves; T-shirts are purposefully crinkled at the shoulder, and knit jumpers become canvases for artistic expression. Across the line, glittering “P” belts remind onlookers of 3.PARADIS’ penchant for luxury, which becomes the through-line in its stylistic analysis of individuality.
