Levi's Delivers Illustrative 'Mobile Suit Gundam SEED' Collection
Highlighting key motifs from the Japanese anime franchise on classic denim ensembles.

After dropping a Princess Mononoke collection with Studio Ghibli last summer, Levi’s is sinking its teeth deeper into the world of anime with an all-new Mobile Suit Gundam SEED collaboration.
The Japanese franchise, which first launched in 1979, tells the story of a war between the Earth Federation and Zeon, while highlighting the concept of Mobile Suits, based on the “powered armor” in Robert A. Heinlein’s 1959 novel, Starship Troopers. Celebrating Gundam‘s decades-spanning legacy (and the release of its latest film, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom), Levi’s capsule collection looks to the original series for sartorial inspiration.
“Year 70 of the Cosmic Era,” Levi’s wrote on Instagram, alongside a video teasing the 12-piece collection.

The line sees Levi’s classic denim jackets and pants become embellished with the Strike Gundam motif, while rugby shirts and anorak coats make nods to the Kira Yamato-born illustration atop their constructions, too. Rounding out the range, quarter-zip jackets, hoodies, longsleeves and T-shirts make more direct nods to the collaboration, with dual-branded logos.
Levi’s Mobile Suit Gundam SEED collection will launch via the brand’s webstore on February 8 before landing in retail stores the following day. Take a closer look at the range in the gallery above.
