Nissan London Design Studio Unveils Wild "20-23" Concept Car
In celebration of the Studio’s 20th anniversary.
To commemorate two decades of Nissan Design Europe (NDE) based in the heart of London, Nissan‘s President and CEO, Makoto Uchida, has introduced the Nissan Concept 20-23.
Reflecting 20 years of NDE’s London presence and blending with Nissan’s iconic numbering tradition, the Concept 20-23 has been conceived by a young team from NDE. The car represents their vision of the ideal city car, free from design constraints.
Other inspirations take things out of the city and onto the track, with Formula E and modern-day simulator racing also playing a role in the concept’s design.
Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s Senior Vice President for global design, mentioned, “The 20-23 Concept, a fusion of online racing inspirations and modern urban living, is a compact hatchback designed to resonate with everyday London life.”
The design combines the playful aesthetics of Nissan’s Pike car legacy with 21st-century touches. Notable features include its aerodynamic design, unique front and rear LED light setup, cameras for mirrors, muscular wheel arches and an exterior painted in a textured grey that mimics a singular metal piece. The car’s sporty vibe extends to its interior, presenting a futuristic racing car atmosphere with scissor doors, deep bucket seats and a rectangular yoke steering wheel.
Albaisa added that the Concept 20-23, “Symbolizes 20 years of NDE’s legacy, where innovative concepts come alive!”
Whether or not there are plans to put the vehicle into production has yet to be shared by Nissan at the time of writing.
