Milan Fashion Week SS24 Street Style
Casual and edgy styling took over the week in the Italian fashion capital.
When it comes to Italian fashion, some may think of traditional menswear tailoring. However, in modern times, styles have evolved, bringing a more laidback routine to the everyday fashion, even during fashion week. This past week, Milan was the setting for fashion week for the Spring/Summer 2024 season. Various silhouettes were worn throughout the week, but a common theme that stood out was the effortless and casual manner of the show attendees.
In between the rave at Diesel, Prada’s utilitarian dream and many firsts that included Peter Hawking’s debut for Tom Ford and Sabato De Sarno’s first Gucci show, showgoers appeared in their best dressed. The common color palettes of dark hues including jet-black relaxed tailored suits, leather jackets and vests saw Milanese fashion take on an edgier look for the autumn season. As the weather transitions into cooler months, leather motorcross and bomber jackets are making a reappearance.
Those looking to hold onto the last bit of summer can be seen wearing pastel stripes, shorts, tank tops and a splash of color. Of course, titular Italian brands were often seen in the form of accessories like a Gucci bag, Dolce & Gabbana belt and all-denim acid wash Prada outfit. Long gone are the days of formally tailored suits. As the trends point out, it is now all about comfort and casual chic.
