Prada SS24 Is a Utilitarian Dream
Prada opened the second day of Milan Fashion Week with a bang, experimenting with everyday uniforms and party-ready ensembles across bold textiles and spiraling ornamentation.
Every season, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons shut down Milan Fashion Week, becoming the most anticipated show on the calendar. Since joining the Prada group in 2020, Simons has worked to refine the modern Prada wearer, revitalizing everyday uniforms with luxurious outputs that blossom into new realms. For Spring/Summer 2024, the brand opened the second day of Milan Fashion Week with a bang, unlocking the gates of Fondazione Prada for one and all.
A-lister Prada ambassadors Scarlett Johansson, Hunter Schafer, and Emma Watson sat front row to experience the magic, seeing clear slime fall from the venue’s expansive ceiling. Dramatic violins kicked off the runway with pronounced energy, seeing the collection ooze with utilitarian motifs. The first model took the runway in dark grey suiting, featuring an exaggerated cinched waist, pleated shorts, and a spiraling shoulder scarf.
Sheer organza looks gracefully followed, moving against the wind with enhanced movement. Flower-printed tops were minced and destroyed, blasted on fringed textiles paired with skintight head caps. Workwear jackets arrived in oversized silhouettes, honoring the everyday uniform with leather collars and bronze hardware. A thrilling party attitude was injected into gold foiled skirts and tasseled layering, while bedazzled ornamentation decorated pierced shirting and knee-length dresses.
Prada’s SS24 collection was equally bold and delicate, experimenting with refined materials that transition from day to night.
