Victoria Monét Releases “On My Mama” Music Video
Offering up a taste of the 2000s.
Lately, Victoria Monét has been heating up and the release of her new music video for “On My Mama” adds fuel to the flame.
The new track from Monét’s forthcoming album, JAGUAR II, was first released last month, giving anticipated fans another taste of what’s to come from the Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter and producer. Now, Monét has livened the track with a bit of 2000s nostalgic flare with the track’s music video. Moving through a house party, parking lot with low-riders, auto body shop and warehouse, the new music video is filled with several dance scenes – proving just how talented the Atlanta native is. In addition to the dance segments, the 2000s aroma is also seen in the lineup of street-oriented looks like baggy jeans and long tees, southern settings and flashy low-rider cars. The music video also sees special cameos from Monét’s mother and daughter, Hazel.
“‘On My Mama’ is the soundtrack to positive affirmations. I wrote it postpartum when I wasn’t feeling my best, but spoke to how I wanted to feel,” said Monét. “Singing the lyrics about yourself will change your frequency, and elevate a positive mental state. The words speak not only to physical features, but to a feeling too because I believe when you feel good you look even better! Give yourself the words you need to hear because it’s true, you look good! There’s no one like you and that’s on ya mama. Enjoy being yourself witcha fine ass!”
Alongside gearing up for the album release, Monét is set to begin her sold-out Jaguar Tour this September. Monét’s debut studio album, Jaguar II, is set to release on August 25.
