Makeshift Studio Honors Kobe Day With This Lower Merion High School-Inspired Kobe 8 Custom

Black Mamba fans across the globe can rejoice because today marks the official relaunch of Kobe‘s signature line with Nike. The Swoosh has celebrated the Laker legend’s birthday yesterday by ushering in the Kobe 8 Protro “Halo,” and now fans like notable footwear photographer Tyler Mansour are chiming in on the action by cooking up a own custom Kobe 8 that’s inspired by Lower Merion High School — Bryant’s alma mater.
The kicks are crafted under Mansour’s creative outlet Makeshift Studio and their presentation resembles the Philadelphia-based school’s signature colors. Ace-friendly maroon accents are applied to the heel cages that are adorned with Kobe’s signature, the synthetic toe tip overlays and the midsoles, the latter of which is dressed up with all-over Kobe Sheath insignias. Up top, the mesh base layer is dyed with a tan hue and complemented by a luxe leather tongue which is dripped out with a caramel-esque tone. Furthermore, the heel panels have been coated with a light beige hue and come texturized with tonal snakeskin scales.
