KAWS and UNIQLO Reveal UT T-Shirt Collaboration
Launching alongside KAWS’ Contemporary Artist Series book, this September.
Update: After teasing a collaboration earlier this week, KAWS and UNIQLO on Thursday lifted the veil on their forthcoming UT collection, which is scheduled to arrive on September 7 alongside the launch of the definitive KAWS art book.
Honoring the Phaidon-published book’s arrival, the collection of T-shirts and sweatshirts is covered in KAWS’ quintessential COMPANION and BFF characters, the artist’s famed XX motif, and illustrations from the binding’s cover. The unisex range will be available in both adult and kid sizes, and select shoppers who purchase both the art book and at least one item from the UT collection will receive a limited-edition shoulder bag, while supplies last.
“I’m pleased to be exclusively launching my new Phaidon Contemporary Artist Series book with my longtime partner Uniqlo,” said Brian Donnelly, the artist behind KAWS, in a statement. “To celebrate the occasion, I designed a small capsule collection of T-shirts and sweatshirts that will be available for a limited time.”
Both the UT T-shirt collection and the art book will be available to shop at UNIQLO stores and on the brand’s webstore beginning September 7. Take a look at the collection in the gallery above.
Original Story: After the release of their 2019 collaboration caused absolute pandemonium at a mall in China, KAWS and UNIQLO have announced they’ll be feeding the fan frenzy once more with an all-new collaborative collection.
The brands took to social media on Wednesday to confirm the news, posting a teaser video of KAWS’s signature Companion figure breaking through a wall of branded art books to reveal a joint T-shirt fronting KAWS’ What Party: Tide (2021). The duo captioned their posts, “New Project. Coming soon.”

It’s likely that the collection will include UNIQLO UT T-shirts printed with artwork featured in KAWS’ What Party exhibition, which traveled the globe to several museums in 2021. Additionally, it looks as though the artist will be dropping a book, published via Phaidon Press, that will presumably arrive in tandem with the UNIQLO collab, as per a tag that appears in the post.
Not much else is known about KAWS’ UNIQLO collaboration at this time, but it’s safe to say that the collection will arrive later this year. Stay tuned to Hypebeast for more information as it becomes available.
