John Mayer and Martin Guitar Deliver 20th Anniversary Acoustics

High-end guitar manufacturer Martin Guitar has linked up with one of today’s most talented guitarists, John Mayer, to pay homage to one of his most revered models. To commemorate 20 years of Mayer’s OM-28JM model, Martin is serving up a limited-edition OM-45 John Mayer 20th Anniversary Guitar, as well as a new rendition of the timeless OMJM Guitar.

For Mayer’s first signature model with Martin, the duo curated a new platinum gray wood stain, which features a sleek silver border that extends the fingerboard and pickguard, as well as an aluminum border around the head plate and bridge. The guitar’s head is adorned with Mayer’s signature and satin nickel Waverly tuners, and also features a thinner 1 11/16th width at the nut to maximize performance. The OM-45 John Mayer 20th Anniversary Guitar runs for a slight $18,499 USD – which is why Mayer also mirrors the new colorway on the OMJM Guitar as well, a more financially accessible model.

The OMJM John Mayer 20th Anniversary Guitar sees the same design features on the guitar’s body, with a little less sparkle in the detailing. Described to offer “versatility for today’s diverse contemporary musical styles”, Mayer’s take on the OMJM will run you $3,999 USD. Have a closer look at both guitars in the gallery below.

Mayer and Martin joined hands to create the OM28-JM back in 2003, and the guitar has stuck with Mayer throughout his career trajectory. “I could never have imagined the relationship would span 20 years, so when the idea for a very special anniversary model was brought up, I jumped at the chance to develop something extraordinary,” Mayer shares in a recent Instagram post. “The new Martin OM-45 John Mayer 20th Anniversary edition is the pinnacle of what can be executed by hand by the Custom Shop’s world-class master builders.
