Brooklyn-based label William Ellery is a premium purveyor of “expedition equipment,” transforming one-of-a-kind vintage finds into outdoor and workwear pieces with a penchant for exploration. The brand’s latest small-batch collection, titled “Beachcomber Gear,” introduces a range of statement bags and sunglasses that are “designed to function at the beach, but remain appropriate in a metropolitan setting.”

“As someone who lives in New York, a necessary hassle is going to Far Rockaway, and so is the gear that goes along with it,” said founder Trevor Davis, who frequents the beach with his surfboard. To enhance the experience, he’s crafted a selection of bags from water-beading mesh that leaves seawater and sand behind, while still hiding what’s inside. Notably, the mesh is composed of scraps left over from commercial fishing, and the remainder of the accessories are made from marine-grade nylon and elastic.

The sunglasses, meanwhile, arrive in two models: the Slingshot and the Spotter. The former shades are made from restored vintage U.S. military frames with amber lenses, and they come with a removable strap made from latex rubber, foam and leather. The latter design is also made from restored U.S. military glasses, but its comes with yellow lenses and rounded temples.

William Ellery’s “Beachcomber Gear” collection will launch on July 16 at 12 p.m. ET on the brand’s webstore. For those in New York, the collection will be available to shop early at Hikerkind Showroom on July 15, from 11 a.m. ET to 1 p.m. ET. See the line in the gallery above.
