Shayne Oliver Announces New Sculptural Exhibition 'The Mall of Anonymous'
Marking the official launch of the former Hood by Air designer’s Shayne Oliver Group in Berlin.
After announcing his exit from Hood by Air last month, Shayne Oliver has returned to officially reveal his all-new project, The Mall of Anonymous. The art-focused initiative, first teased in June, will see the creative polymath transform Berlin’s Schinkel Pavillon into a “two-and-a-half-store walk-in sculpture.”
Marking a new chapter for Oliver, the exhibition’s opening will coincide with the launch of the Shayne Oliver Group, which includes 10 team members based in Berlin, Paris and Miami. The company houses several sub-labels, including Oliver’s creative studio Anonymous Club, his basics line As Seen by Shayne Oliver (A.S.S.O) and his high-end ready-to-wear imprint Shayne Oliver, which will launch in 2024.
The Mall of Anonymous, created in collaboration with curators Fredi Fischli and Niels Olsen, will pay respect to the Shayne Oliver Group’s three labels, with film, photography and samples. Further, the artwork looks to make a larger statement on the changing state of modern American malls.
“Shopping malls have not only for decades been a central part of American consumerism,” reads the exhibition’s description. “They were also a meeting place for youth, complex entities in which social hierarchies, the rules of attraction, [and] economic strength were defined. It is the American promise and purgatory, where people grow up and monsters are raving.”

Oliver quietly left his role as Hood by Air’s design director last summer. The 35-year-old designer, who founded the streetwear imprint in 2006, remains a shareholder in the company while he shifts his attention to his Shayne Oliver Group.
Oliver’s Mall of Anonymous exhibition will open on August 11, 2023, and it will remain on display through September 2, 2023.
