Shayne Oliver Steps Down as Design Director at Hood by Air
He will remain a shareholder in the label, while focusing on various other projects under his Shayne Oliver Group in Berlin.

Shayne Oliver will no longer design for his New York fashion label Hood by Air, according to Business of Fashion. The 35-year-old designer, who founded the streetwear imprint in 2006, will remain a shareholder in the company while shifting his attention to other projects.
Oliver quietly left his role as Hood by Air’s design director last summer. In October, he moved to Berlin, where he now plans to work on a multitude of projects under his Shayne Oliver Group banner, which includes 10 team members based in Berlin, Paris and Miami. The company houses several sub-labels, including Oliver’s creative studio Anonymous Club, his basics line As Seen by Shayne Oliver (A.S.S.O) and his high-end ready-to-wear imprint Shayne Oliver, which will launch in 2024.
Additionally, Oliver is looking to enter the art domain. This August, the Shayne Oliver Group will cut the ribbon on a three-month exhibition titled Mall of Anonymous, which will host Oliver’s artwork, alongside others, at the Schinkel Pavillon in Berlin.
“I just have to do it at my own pace, and I’m very comfortable with that, and that’s really where my head is at,” Oliver told the outlet of his next endeavors.
Hood by Air, a trailblazer in luxury streetwear, previously endured a hiatus while dealing with internal conflicts in 2017. The brand returned to the scene in 2020, with the help of business partner Edison Chen, placing an emphasis on streetwear signatures. Oliver was not satisfied with the brand’s shift away from its original high-end codes, according to BoF. He told the outlet, “Focusing solely on T-shirts was not in line with my vision; I appreciate things that are highly accessible, but I also value high-end concepts.”
