G-SHOCK's “CLEAR REMIX” Series Commemorates 40 Years of Innovation
Stripped down to their central circuit boards, “Clear Remix” provides a look at the tech behind the world’s toughest watches.

G-SHOCK is celebrating 40 years of innovation with the release of its “CLEAR REMIX” series. At first glance, “CLEAR REMIX” presents bare-bones, retro remakes of G-SHOCK’s most popular series, including revamped DWE-5640RX-7, DW-6940RX-7, DW-5040RX-7 and GA-2140RX-7A models. The series introduces transparent and mixed materials at the band, case, dial, LCD and buttons, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the shock-resistant mechanisms that have powered G-SHOCK since 1983.
No other watch manufacturer is as prolific as G-SHOCK, a brand known for its nearly indestructible archive of lifestyle, utility and sports watches. Commemorating 40 years of proprietary technology, G-SHOCK unveils new models surveying the brand’s famed silhouettes, including the first-ever DW-5000 model released in 1983. Since then, hybrid digital models like the DW-5600, DW-6900 and the GA-2100 have solidified the brand’s versatile appeal through decades of crossover collaborations and limited-edition releases.
Take, for example, the octagonal GA-2140RX-7A, a shock-resistant sampling that houses G-SHOCK’s carbon core guard structure and a combination of see-through materials used for the dial, index marks and dial ring. The dial’s glass-like facade showcases distinctive face molding and internal componentry underneath. Equipped with a double LED light and Super Illuminator at the face, the GA-2140RX also features world time in 31 zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, five daily alarms and a full auto calendar. Smaller models arrive with the DWE-5640RX-7, outfitted with a transparent dial and center case and a mixed-material band design (paying homage to G-SHOCK’s myriad predecessors) comprised of clear resin and two-tone stainless steel, followed by the DW-5040RX-7, which dons a clear LCD. All models featured in the lookbook above are shock-resistant and feature 200-meter water resistance.
Across the collection, commemorative four-star and “Since 1983” motifs adorn the metal band loop and clasp, along with an Eric Haze-designed 40th anniversary logo engraved at each model’s case back. As a finishing touch, custom-designed, limited-edition gift boxes house each unit in G-shaped inserts for an elevated unboxing experience.
With this series, G-SHOCK honors its brand heritage and reputation for rugged, toughness by embracing the simplicity of its core watch designs.
