Already making headlines with his “Meltdown” feature on Travis Scott‘s UTOPIA, Drake celebrated the release of the track on Instagram with an interesting photo. The photo posted as an Instagram Story shows the Canadian artist wearing an interesting bejeweled ring.
Those following news in the rap will know that the piece of jewelry shown is actually Tupac Shakur’s ring that went up for auction through Sotheby’s. The gold, ruby, and diamond-encrusted ring was famously worn during the late rapper’s last public appearance at the 1996 VMAs.
While the ring was predicted by Sotheby’s to go for $300,000 USD, it was ultimately sold for $1,016,000 USD to Drake. Initially, the identity of the buyer behind the purchase was not made public.
