Update: The cause of death of Euphoria star Angus Cloud has been revealed to be an accidental overdose.

The Alameda county coroner’s office confirmed that the actor died of “acute intoxication” due to “combined effects of methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl and benzodiazepines,” reiterating that the overdose was accidental. The coroner’s report supports the previous statements of Cloud’s mother, who took to social media to clarify that her son “did not intend to end his life” as they had been discussing future plans prior to his untimely death.

Actor Angus Cloud has died at the age of 25 at his family’s home in Oakland, California. Best known for his role as Fezco “Fez” O’Neill in Euphoria, Cloud, who had no prior acting experience before joining the Euphoria cast, quickly became a star thanks to his mixture of droll charm and unbothered attitude. Besides his star turn in Euphoria, Cloud also had roles in movies like North Hollywood and The Line as well as cameos in music videos for Juice WRLD, Becky G and Karol. Born in Oakland, Cloud was the oldest sibling of a brother and twin sisters. Growing up in the area, he attended the School of Production Design at Oakland School for the Arts alongside Euphoria co-star Zendaya.

Cloud’s death follows shortly after the death of his father — a moment his family noted was an “immense struggle” for the actor in a previous interview with TMZ. His cause of death has not been revealed, but his family has confirmed the news and shared a statement.

It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways. Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend. Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence. We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss.
