Nicholas Daley Explores the History of Reggae for SS24
Shining a light on the rich and cultural heritage of the Midland’s Black music scene.

Nicholas Daley is one of the UK’s most loved creators. The British craftsman regularly presents work that takes inspiration from the things that are closest to him, one of these being music. Over recent times, Daley has presented various collections that support musical brilliance, whether that’s through supporting emerging artists with charity work, or through connecting with household labels like Fender. Now, Daley is continuing to explore his love for music with a brand-new collection titled the “Reggae Club.”
This latest collection for Spring/Summer 2024 picks up from where Daley’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection left off. Daley shines a light on the rich and cultural heritage of the Midland’s Black music scene in the ’70s and ’80s; a time when Birmingham’s reggae roots, spearheaded by the legendary band, Steel Pulse, were at the forefront of musical popularity.
As a whole, the new collection from Nicholas Daley welcomes the return of classic silhouettes that come alongside newly-introduced designs. Color palettes also dip into vibrant prints and understated tone combinations, with earthy shades of mustard, beige, and sienna being combined across tartan and animal prints.
Additionally, stand-out styles from the collection come in the form of the new collared cardigan and paneled cargo pant sets, while knitwear also enters the fold in the shapes of polo shirts, crochet vests, and bucket hats. Continuing to draw inspiration from a melange of fabrications, Daley also welcomes silk on a new wide-leg trouser, zip-up bomber jacket, and an oversized raglan sleeve raincoat — and all of them are complemented by a water-repellent tech fabric to tackle unfair weather conditions.
