NARA's First Collection Arrives in a Colorful Spectrum of Modular Elements

Not your average sofa.

Artists Nara Lee and David Luraschi have made their first foray into the design world, and have launched a collection of modular furniture pieces titled “Family”.

The first release under their studio, which is named NARA, the collection is made up of six pieces that they describe as each having “individual characteristics”. “They are modular in many different ways – different compositions are possible, these are almost limitless, a reflection of the user’s imagination,” they add.

Despite taking on more abstract forms, the elements can be recognised as a sofa, two armchairs, one coffee table, one side table and one foot rest. They are all upholstered in colorful Kvadrart textiles, and have been designed and handcrafted in France – where the studio is based.

Fun is at the center of what NARA wants to do via its forthcoming projects, and as a result, the Family collection has an inherently playful feel, firstly because it encourages the sitter to compose their lounging area in what shape they would like (similarly to the way a child would at a soft play area), and secondly because it’s color palette is so bright and bold.

The collection launched this week at Lafayette Anticipations in Paris. Take a closer look above and for more design check out &Tradition’s Copenhagen “House”, which takes visitors on a colorful journey.
