Awake Continues Its ‘Mission to Earth’ With a NASA-Themed Watch
Introducing the Meatball.

Independent watchmaker Awake just unveiled its latest timekeeping offering as part of its ongoing Misson To Earth collection. Entitled Meatball, the watch serves as a tribute to NASA and its iconic exploration adventures.
In line with Awake’s penchant for science fiction and fascination with outer space, every aspect of the timepiece draws inspiration from various elements from NASA’s space missions. Its sand-blasted matte blue dial nods to NASA’s iconic meatball logo, while its aluminum inner bezel features engraving that harks back to rocket launch countdowns. Housed inside the 40mm case that’s crafted from recycled titanium, the applied indices are based on the International Space Station’s panoramic portholes, meanwhile, the embossed minute track refers to rover-track marks and the handset embodies the oblong silhouettes of rockets.
Its modified MIYOTA 9039 automatic caliber can be viewed on the watch’s open caseback, emblazoned with a NASA logo at its center. NASA’s mantra, “Dare Mighty Things” is also encoded onto the oscillating weight. The engravings on the screw-down crown are also a reference to the umbilical connectors on Neil Armstrong’s space suit for the APOLLO 11 mission.
More than just a time-teller, the Meatball features NFC technology integrated into its sapphire crystal, where owners of the watch can immerse into the world of Misson To Earth simply by tapping their smartphones onto the glass. This includes the Awake Observatory which covers exclusive content by NASA which are derived from its ISS international space station. Completing the timepiece is a lightweight and easy-to-wear velcro strap that’s imprinted with NASA’s logo, and U.S. flag, alongside “MISSION TO EARTH” lettering.
Releasing in a limited run of 250 units, the Meatball is currently available for purchase over at Awake’s official website, retailing for €825 EUR (approximately $895 USD).
