It’s only fitting that ONE PIECE, highest-grossing manga of all time, see the highest budget for a Netflix streamer yet. According to reports from Daily Dose of Anime, Sportskeeda and others the live-action adaptation of the beloved anime tale was given a whopping $18 million USD budget for each episode, $3 million USD more than that of smash hits like Game of Thrones or The Mandalorian.

The whopping budget hints at promising things for the 10-episode series, as well as series creator Eiichiro Oda himself serving as the executive producer. Oda shared in a message earlier this year that Netflix “promised” not to launch the series until Oda was satisfied with it.

Netflix’s highly anticipated take on the classic manga story embodies the same storyline: viewers follow the Straw Hat Pirates along their tumultuous journey to secure the One Piece treasure. The series stars Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Taz Skylar as Sanji, Mackenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami and Jacob Gibson as Usopp.

The first official trailer for ONE PIECE dropped earlier this month at the streaming giant’s annual Tudum 2023 event. The first episode of the series will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix on August 31.
