Key Looks From Pharrell’s First LV Runway
Uniting the luxury house’s signature codes with contemporary touches.

Yesterday, Pharrell Williams officially opened Paris Fashion Week with his highly anticipated debut show for Louis Vuitton. Succeeding the late Virgil Abloh, Williams’ runway debut was of course complete with a range of celebrity guests including the likes of Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Tyler, the Creator, Rihanna, Zendaya, Jaden Smith and more. Although the extensive celebrity attendance generated loads of buzz, the most important aspect was how Pharrell introduced his vision of the Louis Vuitton man.
From reimagined prints to subverted styles and artist-inspired graphics, the Spring/Summer 2024 collection offered up a versatile vision of style. One of the collection’s leading expressions was “Damoflage” – a new print that fuses Louis Vuitton’s heritage Damier patten with camouflage. As such, the new pattern resembled an almost 8-bit graphic style that enveloped everything from tailored tailored garments to street-ready pieces. Damoflage highlights include a sublime, yet sharp deep blue suit with a pearl chain closure jacket and plated shorts, a multicolored blazer-inspired jacket and a relaxed denim set which blended light and dark wash hues.
Aside from Damoflage, Williams also incorporated the heritage pattern in a literal sense – respecting its classic nature while also incorporating a few updated touches. Damier’s signature brown pattern is seen in a structured coordinating set comprised of a mandarin collar four-button jacket with matching short shorts alongside a relaxed coordinating set and cropped jacket in vivid blue hues.
On to another particularly exciting leather moment was an eye-catching invisible-button overcoat and oversized bomber jacket worn by Pusha T and his brother No Malice. Water-adjacent landscapes craft the pieces background designs and what appears in the foreground is a bold cinematic style print that reads “The Louis Vuitton Lovers Presents.” Almost reminiscent of Pelle Pelle jackets, the pieces invoke a bold charisma that feels just as vintage as they are contemporary. The blue jacket worn by No Malice was also complete with a pair of matching leather pants.
Regardless if it’s fashion or music, Williams’ Virginia roots remain a steady pulse in his stream of work. So it only made sense that the multi-hyphenate bring those roots into his new design journey. First previewed in the show teasers but making its entrance on the runway was the “LV-overs” motif, which nods to the “Virginia is for lovers” state slogan. The “LV-overs” design stands tallest in a deep blue crocodile-embossed leather bomber jacket. Other standout pieces include a crisp white Chanel-esque cropped knit-jacket in Damier with pearl detailing, a relaxed tracksuit with pearl finishes and a gray/black modern houndstooth coordinating.
Alongside William’s range of tailored and streetwear ensembles, another shining light of the collection is its roster of accessories. Specifically, bags take the cake which offer up the luxury house’s leather Speedy silhouette is bold shades alongside updated Damier patterns and Louis Vuitton’s crown trunk in Monogram Copper.
To many, Pharrell Williams is starting off on the right foot at Louis Vuitton due to his fusion of the house’s signature codes with contemporary touches.
