Slowthai Charged With Two Counts of Rape
The rapper will be tried by a judge and jury in the UK next month.
Slowthai appeared in a British court on two charges of raping a woman. The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, has been charged with oral and vaginal penetration of a woman without her consent. The assault reportedly took place in Oxford in September 2021.
Frampton faced the court on Tuesday via video, speaking only to confirm his name, date of birth and home residence, The Guardian reported.
A lawyer from the prosecution, Adam Yar Khan, said that the case is triable only on indictment in the Crown Court. Reserved for the most serious crimes in the UK, the case will be tried by a judge and jury, rather than a magistrate.
Frampton was released on bail ahead of his scheduled appearance before the Crown Court next month.
