With Duke + Dexter, Soho Yacht Club Is Making Streetwear Sophisticated
Welcoming a pair of collaborative yacht-detailed penny loafers and a breezy summer wardrobe.
The emerging London-based label Soho Yacht Club is the new vanguard of contemporary streetwear, as proven by its upcoming Duke + Dexter collaboration.
Ever since Hypebeast tipped it (and seven others) as a British brand to keep on your radar at the start of 2022, Soho Yacht Club has comes leaps and bounds with both collaborations and collections that continue to push its unique aesthetic. For example, it delivered a limited-run drop with fellow Londoners A1 Denim, as seen on Mia Khalifa no less, and served a complete visual whiplash in the form of a Chelsea football kit.
Now, Soho Yacht Club, founded by the Duke + Dexter “Day One” Ellis Gilbert, welcomes another creative shift in the form of its Duke + Dexter collaboration, reworking the latter’s signature Wilde Penny Loafer. The changes are small but mighty, seeing the pair arrive in premium black leather that’s contrasted with white welt top stitching all around. Furthermore, we find tan leather brand-stamped insoles, and for its pièce de résistance, a gold-toned penny in the middle of the shoe, picturing a yacht alongside Soho Yacht Club branding.
In addition to the footwear, we find a comprehensive clothing and accessories line that emulates the Riviera-chic attitude that permeates Duke + Dexter’s brand iconography, while injecting Gilbert’s home and background. As such, T-shirts are printed with yacht graphics fit for a Miami Vice homage and twin-set camp collar shirts and shorts appear alongside corduroy caps, and of course, a silver dual-branded penny that slots into the loafer.
Take a look at the collection above, and expect everything to drop on both the Soho Yacht Club and Duke + Dexter websites on May 19.
