Nike Shows Love to the Urawa Dragons With This New Air Max 1 Colorway
The Japanese soccer team’s logos make an apperance on the heels and insoles.
In 2004, Nike manufactured a special Japan-exclusive Air Max 1 colorway that resembled the kits of the Urawa Dragons (aka Urawa Red Diamonds) — a football club that’s based in Japan. And fast forward 19 years later, the Swoosh team is revisiting this initiative to piece together a sequel Air Max 1 installment for the J League franchise that comes styled with a more neutral-toned arrangement.
Official images of the pair have been unveiled by Nike, revealing all of its subtle-yet-striking details. Steering away from the bold red and white color scheme that was implemented on the version in ‘04, this rendition comes fitted with “Pure Platinum” overlays, solid black collars and toe boxes, and angelic Swooshes and laces. Nike Air insignias atop the tongues are dripped out with a regal gold font while direct nods to the Dragons come in the form of its logo that comes embroidered into the heels and printed on the insoles. Below the visible Air units are painted in red, and the outsoles are designed with speckled wallpaper.
