20 years since its founding, Y-3 has nestled a unique place within fashion and footwear circles thanks to Yohji Yamamoto‘s minimal sensibilities and avant-garde tailoring, mixed with adidas’ history in the field of sportswear. One of their latest collaborations, the ITOGO, was yet another example. For those who weren’t so keen on the ITOGO’s unorthodox design, however, Y-3 is set to re-release the popular AJATU high top in a revamped black iteration, as well as a new white colorway.

First released in 2021, the silhouette is notably inspired by adidas’ Nizza basketball shoe, but with slightly exaggerated features. The textural upper sits atop a chunky rubber outsole, along with suede accents at the tongue, lace box and heel. Additional highlights include a bold zipper that wraps around the shoe and gunmetal keyrings towards the top lace socket.

“Y-3 is a strong examination of the blend of sport and style and the tension caused by mixing tradition with all that is modern,” Yamamoto has previously said when describing his label. The Y-3 AJATU Court High is available to purchase at adidas for $330 USD.

Elsewhere, Engineered Garments and K-Swiss come together to reimagine the Classic GT.
