The Nike Dunk Low “Virgil Abloh™ x Futura Laboratories” Sold for as High as $107,950 USD
50 times greater than pre-auction estimates.
The eight pairs of “Virgil Abloh™ x Futura Laboratories” Nike Dunk Low kicks were just sold at Sotheby’s with prices that far exceeded their pre-auction estimations. The highest winning bid goes to a size 10 pair in the orange colorway, sold at $107,950 USD — around 50 times greater than the original estimated price range of $2,000 – $4,000 USD.
As indicated in the results, the Orange colorway genuinely received higher bids than its Blue counterpart. Winning bids for the Blue editions ranged from $25,400 USD for the size 5, to $82,550 USD for the size 11. Meanwhile, the lowest winning bid for the Orange version amounted to $57,150 USD for a size 6 pair.
All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Virgil Abloh Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Virgil Abloh Securities that is set to launch later this year. The Foundation will continue to support youths from diverse backgrounds in pursuing creative careers. On top of that, the Virgil Abloh Foundation will also be donating half of its proceeds to other charities such as the Art for Justice Fund, the Innocence, and the Boys & Girls Club of America — all picked by Futura.
