Maurice de Mauriac Unveils Its Tough and Rugged Chrono Modern North Cape Edition
Commemorating the 11-day expedition.

Maurice de Mauriac has officially unveiled its Chrono Modern North Cape Edition chronograph at yesterday’s Man’s World 2023 expo, in Switzerland.
Described as “an absolute classic” in the watch brand’s collections, the timepiece has proved its worth by accompanying and surviving extreme adventures between Maurice de Mauriac and its various collaborators in the past ten years. Its name derives from the 11-day North Cape expedition that the Alpineracer team embarked on with a BMW E30, along with a Genesis GV70 as the support vehicle.
The Chrono Modern North Cape Edition timepiece arrives in a 42mm brushed stainless steel case, fitted with the watchmaker’s patented screwed bezel that boasts a unique pattern. To enhance the watch’s rugged appeal, a coarse and corrugated ring is added to evoke extra toughness. The dial is doused in a deep blue, complete with three subdials, hand-filled Super-LumiNova accents, and a bright orange chrono second hand.
Beating inside, the Swiss Valjoux ETA 7750 movement performs all the essential time-telling functions, along with chronograph, day, and date indications. A personalized Alpineracer oscillating weight is also implemented as a tribute to the expedition. Completing the piece is a special edition white rubber strap, as well as a textile option in blue.
The timepiece will soon be available via Maurice de Mauriac’s website as well as its Zurich atelier for the price of 4,400 CHF (approximately $4,928 USD). Keep an eye out on the brand’s website and Instagram for launch updates.
