On a very rainy evening last Thursday, Hypebeast teamed up with Italian design brand Vero to host a low-key event at its new store in celebration of its latest collection “Drop 4”.

Taking place towards the end of Milan Design Week, the event saw the brand’s creative directors Simona Flacco and Riccardo Crenna joined by Hypebeast editors and guests, along with some of the collaborators behind Vero’s existing and new collections.

Despite the torrential weather, which felt particularly unlucky, as the days previous had been perfectly sunny – both the Milanese and international design crowd flocked to the space, located in Porta Venezia on Via Felice Casati. Inside, drinks were provided by NIO Cocktails, which specializes in premium drinks that are pre-mixed and delivered in a letterbox-sized sleeve. The no-fuss approach proved perfect for the event, as long bar queues were negated by visitors easily being able to rip, pour, and enjoy the drinks from a tumbler with a single, large ice cube.

New pieces from Drop 4 were dotted around the space, including Lex Pott’s Cross Section table crafted from birch plywood and laminate; Atelier Axo’s super glossy Anton Cabinet; Navet’s simple Equilibrium shelves that combine wood and aluminum; Big-Game’s Cassetta table mirror tilted to provide the perfect angle for morning skincare rituals; and a617’s Rounded Cabinet, which forms a bright yellow focal point down the left-hand side of the space.

The celebration also marked a year since Vero’s official launch, which took place in 2022. At the time, Hypebeast spoke to Flacco and Crenna about their vision, and how they planned to pay homage to the region’s design identity while being equipped for making objects in the ever-changing modern world:

“We imagine a brand that grows together with its community. Vero wants to put people at the center and to aggregate them through all of its outputs – from collections to events. We make home products that are simple, honest and timeless, but most of all they want to generate a branded lifestyle ecosystem.

With our creative direction, we want to develop a brand that does not have the furniture collection as its only output but that knows how to build a sense of belonging for its community and that knows how to combine product quality, service offer, ability to build its own narration and intercept the needs of contemporary society.”

The Hypebeast x Vero Drop 4 Celebration took place during Milan Design Week on April 20. Take a look through the photography above, and for more Milan news – take a tour of Gaetano Pesce’s “Vieni a Vedere” installation that was on show at Bottega Veneta’s Montenapolone Boutique.
