'Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' To Hit Box Office Opening of $40 Million USD

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is set to hit a better-than-expected $40 million USD opening at this weekend’s box office. The Paramount Pictures film based off of the ultra-popular Hasbro game Stars Sophia Lillis, Justice Smith, Chris Pine, Regé-Jean Page and Michelle Rodriguez.

On Friday, the film had grossed $15.3 million USD, including a $5.6 million USD in previews from this week. Thursday evening shoes saw $4.1 million USD. The film played in 3,855 locations across the nation. The film was co-produced and co-financed by Paramount and Hasbro and cost a reported amount of $150 million USD to make before marketing. The film is launching in over 50 markets across the world including the U.K.

The film adapts the ever-popular board game first published in 1974, which has since gone on to inspire books, TV series, video games and movies. The film is set to surpass John Wick: Chapter 4 this week which is estimated to make $29 million USD at the box office at its sophomore outing. Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has received an A-CinemaScore and reunites Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley as directors.

In other entertainment news, Clint Eastwood will make the final film of his career at Warner Bros.
