The PUMA x FINAL FANTASY XIV Online collaboration has finally arrived, consisting of footwear, apparel and accessories highlighting the game franchise’s 10th anniversary. The range is designed for fans of the title and sportswear aficionados of all kinds.
Sneakers are the highlight of the collection, specifically the Slipstream and RS-X models which are two of the most coveted designs in PUMA’s footwear lineup. The RS-X is a fan-favorite in the sneaker community, continually lauded for its futuristic profile, comfortable feel and creative colorways. It’s no wonder it’s become the go-to shoe for frequent PUMA collaborations as well, with releases linked to other big franchise names such as Pokémon, Rick and Morty and popular fast-food chain White Castle, to name a few. The Slipstream on the other hand is a tried-and-true classic — it features a retro look inspired by basketball shoes from the ’80s. Since its inception during that era, it was reintroduced in the 2000s and continues to be a top-notch option for dedicated footwear fanatics. Familiar streetwear and sports names like Staple, Rhuigi Villaseñor and Neymar Jr. have dropped collaborative models with the Slipstream as well.
The RS-X and Slipstream have undoubtedly been thrust into the popular culture sphere, and they now join the fantastical world of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. Collectively, both the RS-X and Slipstream come in two colorways: “PUMA White-Dusty Aqua” and a “Purple Charcoal-PUMA Black-Electric Orchid” mix. The hues are inspired by the “light” and “dark” themes of the game. The Slipstream design boasts a Crystal charm and the “Meteor” logo on the tongue, while the RS-X features the “Fat Cat” insignia on the tongue, heel and insole. The “Fat Cat” references an in-game minion from FINAL FANTASY XIV Online. Both sneakers come in a special edition box specially designed with a minion illustration and emblazoned with the PUMA logo and FINAL FANTASY XIV Online meteor symbol.
