Drake's and St. JOHN Serve Up a Tasty Collection of Formalwear
Two London institutions combine for a capsule that celebrates British produce, great food, and even better wine.
Fresh off the back of its Spring/Summer 2023 collection, the London formalwear institution Drake’s has unveiled a collaboration dear to many a Londoner’s heart: Drake’s x St. JOHN.
Founded by Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver, St. JOHN is a collection of three restaurants, a bakery, a winery and a wine company, typically championing seasonal British produce to create some of the tastiest food around (such as its bacon sandwiches). Now, Drake’s Creative Director Michael Hill honors one of his favorite restaurants with a collaboration that brings the two stalwarts’ worlds together.
The collaboration presents cotton moleskin Chore Jackets inspired by St. JOHN’s own pinstriped “blue de travail” jackets, seen here with the collaborative pins and silk scarves decorating the standout item. Elsewhere, tote bags reading “TAIL” and “NOSE,” again heavily inspired by the restaurant’s approach to food, appear alongside the “Tasting Gilet,” a piece that reminisces Gulliver’s waistcoat that you’ll often find him wearing when in the vineyard — and fittingly, the gilet features pockets that will store corkscrews, notes, and anything else you might want to carry while wine tasting.
St. JOHN’s jumping pig motif is embroidered on shirts and woven into soft jumpers, while “SNIFFING”-embroidered sweaters, trousers, caps, T-shirts, and a duo of long sleeve tees round out the collection.
Drake’s and St. JOHN’s capsule can be seen in the gallery above and will drop imminently in-store and online.
In other news, Louis Vuitton has dropped a $37,000 USD jacket.
