Finding time to unwind in between the daily grind can be a tough feat. For many sports fans, the best escape from the hustle and bustle of the 9-5 schedule is turning on the game and de-stressing with friends. Teaming up with the Raptors to bring that “chill” feeling to you, Coors Light and Toronto-based designer Mr. Saturday created the Coors Light x Raptors Chill Fleece to help you make the most of game days.

Designer Joey Gollish designed a versatile, convertible jacket imbued with Mr. Saturday’s adaptable qualities — featuring both a work-appropriate side and a more playful game-ready side. With the Chill Fleece, you can head from the office to the game with ease, and no wardrobe change is needed.

The Chill Fleece’s minimalistic side shows off a simple black colorway with contrasting white accents as well as the signature Mr. Saturday logo, while the game-day-inspired side comes equipped with the necessary elements to help you maximize your chill. The Raptors logo adorns the front of the jacket’s reversible side along with Coors Light’s colors, giving it a maximalist feel. An insulated beer pocket completes the jacket’s “Chill” side, so you can kick back and watch the Raps in style.

We spoke with Joey Gollish of Mr. Saturday to dive into the inspiration behind the jacket, how he balances a hectic schedule, and his personal connection to the Raptors.

Hypebeast: Tell us about how you ideated this collaborative design.

Gollish: The Coors Light team was really fun to work with; they gave me a lot of creative freedom and wanted to lean into the world of Mr. Saturday. We started with a color palette, the iconic Raptors and Coors brand elements, and some functional elements, like the reversibility and the cooler pocket, and then tried to build something exciting from there. We spent a lot of time in the studio with our tailors figuring out how to make a reversible garment that didn’t feel cheesy, and I think it came together really well.

Your designs often reflect high-low sensibilities — they can be dressed up or down and have adaptable qualities. How does this collaboration incorporate your signature design elements?

I wanted this jacket to have an aesthetically accessible sensibility to it. For me, the contrast collar, the fact that it’s a more traditional spread collar, and the Mr. Saturday rubber label really brings it into our world.

A core element of your artistic ethos involves defying fashion norms and standards. How does this jacket design reinvent the idea of “day-to-night” dressing?

When people think night, I think their mind often goes to evening wear or something nightlife-driven and edgy. In reality, today, we’re a lot more focused on comfort than we ever have been. This jacket blends the conventions of nightlife and comfort into a piece that you can truly wear anywhere.

You’re from Toronto — tell us about your connection to the Raptors.

What kid from Toronto wasn’t obsessed with JYD or Vince Carter?! There’s this feeling of nostalgia and community I get every time I walk into the arena for a game, and I really wanted that feeling to come through this piece for all the fans.

Through working on developing new collections for Mr. Saturday, DJing, and working with the brand Roots as Creative Director in Residence, you have a busy schedule. How do you find time to wind down from the daily grind and lean into your “chill” side?

Downtime isn’t really a part of my routine, but I think that’s fine. I love what I do and I love making the most of every day. I find downtime in the intentionality of the little moments in between, whether it’s a drink with friends, going for a walk, or cooking at home.

Fans can cop 1 of 40 Chill Fleeces on December 20 at the Union Market at Union Station by putting their Raptors knowledge to the test. First come first serve, limited 1 per person. Learn more about the collaboration at chillfleece.com.
