BLACKPINK's Members Split With YG Entertainment for Solo Endeavors
BLACKPINK as a group will still remain with the label.
BLACKPINK‘s Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé may be entering their solo eras sooner rather than later…
Today, news surfaced that the K-Pop stars have declined to renew their individual contacts with their current label/talent agency, YG Entertainment, potentially hinting at imminent solo music. However, BLACKPINK as a whole will still remain signed to the label for any group endeavors.
“BLACKPINK recently renewed their contracts with YG for their group activities, and we have agreed not to proceed with additional contracts for [the members’] individual activities,” the new statement read (per Soompi). “We will do our utmost to support BLACKPINK’s activities, and we will cheer on the members’ individual activities with warm hearts.”
The news comes shortly after Jennie announced the launch of her own fashion label, ODD ATELIER. “I’m also about what’s to come, as I start my solo journey in 2024 with a company that I have established called OA. Please show lots of love for my new start with OA and of course BLACKPINK,” she shared in a statement.
While members of the group have delivered solo music ventures before, this seems to mark a new era for the BLACKPINK ladies – one in which their solo careers are just as prioritized as that of BLACKPINK.
