Official Images of the Nike Air Max 1 "Shima Shima"
Returning to shelves after 20 years.

Update: Following the return of the Air Trainer 1 “Shima Shima” last year, the Air Max 1 “Shima Shima” has now been officially revealed by Nike. While the Swoosh has yet to share its release plans, its expected launch date is March 10 at a price of $160 USD. For more information, check out our original coverage below.
Original Story: First introduced by Nike in 2003, the “Shima Shima” motif is resurfacing this year on the Nike Air Max 1. Early leaked images of the pair have been floating around the Internet in recent months, but this newest set of on-foot photos has revealed the kicks in great detail.
Important details to call out right off the bat are the remixed tongues and the interior linings. The former trades out the traditional Nike branding for labels that are styled with bold red Japanese characters and brown backdrops while the latter is fitted with brown and white stripes. Upper halves of the sneakers are designed with a trio of neutral tones. Standing out across the base is a “Plum Eclipse” hue which styles up the laces, Swooshes, mudguards, and Nike Air branding on the rear while “Wolf Grey” hits inform the heel overlays and and quarter panels. From there, “Summit White” pokes out through the collars, and toe boxes. Down below, the midsole piece arrives in all-white and is glued above a two-toned treading.
At the time of writing, the Swoosh hasn’t confirmed a release date, but you can likely expect the Nike Air Max 1 “Shima Shima” to launch in the coming months for $160 USD.
